Top 5 Social Networking Apps in Madagascar Q4 2021

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the top five social networking apps in Madagascar experienced diverse trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the performance of these apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. saw a stable weekly revenue, hovering around $5-$7 throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads showed an upward trend, starting at approximately 2.8K in early October and peaking at nearly 4.9K by the end of December. Weekly active users remained fairly consistent, increasing slightly from about 292K to over 302K by the end of the quarter.

Facebook, also from Meta Platforms, Inc., demonstrated some fluctuations in weekly revenue, with notable peaks at approximately $226 in mid-October and $179 in late December. Weekly downloads rose significantly from around 2.8K in early October to over 4.6K by the end of December. The app’s weekly active users saw a slight increase, starting at around 140K and ending the quarter at close to 144.5K.

WhatsApp Messenger from WhatsApp Inc. did not generate any revenue during this period. However, weekly downloads showed a gradual rise from about 1.2K in mid-October to nearly 2.1K by mid-December. The app maintained a high number of weekly active users, consistently around 2.5M throughout the quarter.

Telegram Messenger from Telegram FZ-LLC also did not generate revenue. Its weekly downloads increased from approximately 573 in late September to around 1.2K in early December. Weekly active users grew from about 46.5K in late September to over 50.5K by the end of December.

Skype from Skype Communications S.a.r.l experienced modest revenue variations, peaking at $63 in late October. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 321 and 428 throughout the quarter. Weekly active users were consistent, maintaining around 4.5K with minor variations.
